Evocative Ruins - Old Sheldon Church

Evocative Ruins

Celebrations of old drift past you in the now empty church yard
The Spanish moss whispers, hushed and reverent but still very much alive

You long for and reminisce of a time in which you were never a part
Ephemerality strikes you

Beautiful and tragic arches lead to a sanctuary where the birds still sing "glory!"
The lack of parishioners has not lead to a lack of praise

The dancing light and ancient branches transform the destruction into a work of art
Tragedy was not triumphant

And you think "Will my own ruins sing 'glory!'"

-Blake Pilgreen
